Beacon is a national behavioral health company providing residential-based services and supports to children and adults with Complex Behavioral Health conditions, Severe Mental Illness, Autism, and other compounding medical conditions. All activities must be delivered in compliance with company policies, accreditation standards, state and federal licensing requirements, HCBS guidelines, and contractual requirements of Community Mental Health Agencies and other regulatory bodies. About the Role

The Community Support Professional (CSP) provides individualized, community-based support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life. Working in the individual's home and throughout the community, the CSP assists with daily living activities, community integration, transportation, skill development, and achievement of person-centered goals outlined in each individual's service plan. This role promotes dignity, choice, and inclusion while maintaining a safe, supportive environment and ensuring compliance with agency standards, regulatory requirements, and documentation expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Complete well-written and detailed daily service notes via the electronic record system. Must be able to navigate the agency’s electronic records and Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) systems (training provided). Requires the use of a personal cell phone.
  • Work with individuals in their homes and communities, providing transportation in accordance with service delivery.
  • Assist with scheduling, attending, and transporting individuals to medical appointments.
  • Support household maintenance, housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, money management, and budgeting tasks.
  • Promote problem-solving, social interactions, and activities. Assistance with personal hygiene and medication management may also be required.
  • Deliver services in accordance with the individual’s service plan and identified outcomes.
  • Promote a safe and caring environment where individuals can learn and grow while enjoying a healthy and productive lifestyle.
  • Demonstrate responsible, courteous behavior and a positive perception of individuals with developmental disabilities to promote community awareness.
  • Participate in the Interdisciplinary Team Meeting process as appropriate.
  • Interact professionally with individuals, family members, Supports Coordinators, Guardians, Supervisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Comply with company and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Participate in weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly leadership calls and report on applicable KPIs.
  • Preserve and protect the privacy, confidentiality, and security of all medical records and confidential information (HIPAA compliance).
  • Promote Beacon in a positive manner, modeling core values in everyday behavior.
  • Monitor and address negative workplace behaviors such as gossip, harassment, or favoritism to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
  • Apply trauma-informed care principles, recognizing the role trauma may play in an individual’s life and promoting a culture sensitive to these needs.
  • Cooperate with Beacon, the Department of Human Services (DHS), or other regulatory bodies during inspections, investigations, or inquiries.
  • Accept other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Must pass criminal background checks, central registry check (in applicable states), and child abuse registry (in applicable states).
  • Must complete and pass a drug test (in applicable states).
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have reliable transportation.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
  • Approved by state, federal, and government entities to work within BSLS programs.
  • Ability to use office equipment, including BSLS information technology systems.

Work Environment

  • Community-based role with potential exposure to body fluids and the need to provide personal care.
  • Travel is required between programs and daily activities.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Schedule

This position requires flexibility in scheduling and travel to various locations within Lackawanna, Luzerne counties, and surrounding communities. Scheduling may include varying hours and days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the needs of the individuals served.
