Community Services Technician - Parks & Recreation Maintenance

About the role

To provide care, management, safe operation and upkeep of the City’s public spaces, public parks including facilities and outdoor recreational amenities and trees within the parks and natural areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide care, management, safe operation and upkeep of the City’s public spaces, public parks including facilities and outdoor recreational amenities and trees within the parks and natural areas.
• Operate and maintain park equipment and vehicles.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of park maintenance programs.
• Respond to emergency situations and perform first aid as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
• Perform routine inspections and report findings to supervisors.
• Participate in regular training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License
• CDL Temporary Instruction Permit required upon hire
• CDL-B within 5 years of hire
• Medical Certificate upon hire

Qualifications

Commensurate with experience, advancement in the position, and other contractual factors.

Skills

• Knowledge of park operations and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to operate and maintain park equipment and vehicles.
• First aid and emergency response skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.

Pay

$23.50 hourly rate, with increases dependent on length of service, advancement in the position, and other contractual factors.

Schedule

This position supports a 7-day operation, and work schedules vary based on operational needs. During the training period, the schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. After training, schedules are assigned based on operational needs and may include weekdays, weekends, afternoons, and occasional split shifts.
