About the role
The Community Resource Specialist position at Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC) focuses on strengthening communities through outreach, education, collaboration, and innovative programming. This role involves representing OACAC at various community meetings, facilitating educational events, supporting strategic planning, and expanding access to resources.
Responsibilities
- Represent OACAC at community meetings, coalitions, events, and outreach activities
- Cookout and facilitate community education programs, including Poverty Simulations, REALL, VOICE presentations, Life Skills classes, and monthly food distributions
- Develop and implement community engagement projects that support agency priorities
- Aid in the agency's Community Needs Assessment through research, data collection, stakeholder engagement, and community forums
- Support implementation of OACAC's Strategic Plan and agency initiatives
- Recruit, coordinate, and support County Advisory Committees, volunteers, and community partners
- Research innovative strategies and best practices that address poverty and strengthen communities
- Develop and distribute educational materials and community resources
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and project documentation
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Missouri driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
- Ability to travel frequently throughout OACAC's 10-county service area
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field preferred
- Experience with community engagement, outreach, facilitation, or public speaking preferred
- Experience coordinating community events, volunteer programs, or collaborative projects preferred
- Knowledge of regional resources and community organizations preferred
