About the role

Lifeworks is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing advocacy, empowerment, and opportunity to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. As a Community Resource Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals by facilitating access to volunteer, leisure, and community-based activities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain volunteer and community-based site relationships through fostering contacts, onsite visits, and thorough research via telephone and web searches.
  • Develop quality curriculum that can be utilized by case managers to effectively teach and engage participants.
  • Perform case management duties including documentation of training and activities, maintenance of individual confidential files, and submission of required paperwork to supervisor.
  • Attend regular meetings as necessary.
  • Be flexible regarding necessary changes in work schedule and tasks as assigned by supervisor to cover the needs of the supported individual.
  • Model effective teaching methods for staff to ensure active participation by the group and provide feedback and support to staff.
  • Oversee and assist in developing future programmatic needs.
  • Share information with other staff, participants, families/guardians, and service providers as required.
  • Primary lead on technology-based curriculum materials and activities.
  • Aid as one of the primary MAP staff members.
  • May serve as the program Safety Officer as assigned by the Director and be responsible for implementing safety plans and conducting monthly fire drills.

Requirements

  • Experience working with Individuals with ID/DD
  • A Bachelor's degree or an associate degree in a related field with two years of experience, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and five years of related work experience in Human Services.
  • Must be able to pass Fingerprint background check, CORI, DPPC, and Driving background checks.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Valid MAP certification is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
