About the role
The Community Resiliency Volunteer Manager supports community resilience partners' volunteer needs through various initiatives, coordinates volunteer projects, and manages a multi-county volunteer recruitment platform.
Responsibilities
- Support community resilience partners’ volunteer needs through Days of Connection, Community Recovery Days, and Hands On.Coordinator volunteer projects, including We Care Experiences.
- Coordinate with the LTRG volunteer committee by leading meetings and managing projects.
- Maintain and evaluate volunteer participation and impact, providing regular reports.
- Deliver volunteer experiences that consider inclusion and diverse audiences.
- Ensure data entry for volunteer projects adheres to established processes and protocols.
- Plan and manage community resiliency volunteer events, including logistics and support for signature events.
- Facilitate AmeriCorps support, including NCCC project sites, and provide logistical support.
- Lead the Volunteer Corps program, engaging internal and external volunteers.
- Promote the use of Hands On Asheville-Buncombe and provide a gathering space for community volunteer managers.
- Create and manage event budgets for volunteer engagement initiatives.
- Develop and implement a new regional volunteer platform for ongoing resiliency and recovery work.
- Recruit and onboard regional partners onto the volunteer platform, ensuring they follow the partnership agreement and yearly processes.
- Provide support and training to partners, troubleshoot issues, and assist with preparing volunteer roles for long-term recovery.
- Coordinate with LTRGs and recovery coalitions to ensure volunteer needs are clearly listed and supported.
- Manage data accuracy on the volunteer platform, generate analytics, and collaborate with technology partners.
- Design, update, or implement data collection tools and evaluation instruments to gather relevant information about volunteer demographics, interests, experiences, and satisfaction levels.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, nonprofit management, communications, or related fields, with 3 years of experience in volunteer coordination, partner outreach, or data management.
- At least 2 years focused on volunteer coordination.
- 1 or more years of experience supervising volunteers.
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to UWABC’s mission and guiding principles.
- Proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Zoom.
- Previous data management experience and ability to train others on technology platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, maneuver complex work environments, engage in planning and problem-solving, act independently, and execute details promptly.
- Public speaking experience.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Experience supporting disaster recovery, LTRGs, or emergency response organizations.
Qualifications
- Bilingual – English/Spanish (nice to have).
- Proficiency in the Get Connected volunteer management platform or similar.
- Prior experience with project management software.
- Experience working with AmeriCorps members or similar groups.
- General knowledge of health and human services in Western North Carolina.
