Job Summary
The Charles Evans Center (CEC) is seeking experienced part-time Community Residence Counselors for various locations offering comprehensive medical, dental, and mental health services to adults and children with developmental disabilities, as well as the underserved population. The role involves providing counseling, behavioral interventions, restorative services, and assisting residents in household maintenance and daily activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide counseling, behavioral interventions, restorative services, assistance in negotiating community activities and crisis management services.
- Monitor, train and assist residents in all programs in household maintenance activities to ensure a clean, safe and homelike environment.
- Directly participate in household maintenance activities when required.
- Provide training, supervision and assistance to residents in daily activities including food purchases, recreational activities, and meal planning and personal care activities.
- Assist residents in developing meaningful service plan goals and provide supports to assist residents in achieving their goals.
- Conduct fire safety training activities.
- Meet weekly, or as scheduled, with assigned primary residents for counseling and to establish and review service plan goals.
- Assist residents in procuring and maintaining financial entitlements.
- Monitor medications as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- NY driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in a mental health related field preferred.
Benefits
- Salary: $23.34/hour.

- $23.34/hour.
Schedule
- Glen Head: Fri/Sat 3-11p or Fri 3-11p/Sun 7a-3p
- Hempstead: Mon/Tues/Weds/Sun 5-11p/Sat 3-11p
- East Hills: Fri 5-11p/Sat/Sun 3-11p or Sun-Thurs 5-11p
Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid NY driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in a mental health related field is preferred.
