About the role
This position is responsible for assisting in the enhancement, implementation, and support of community relations and education efforts, as well as employee community involvement programs. It involves developing and implementing the community relations strategy.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the coordination of community programs designed to enhance the company's standing in the community.
- Maintains a favorable relationship with assigned charitable programs and/or communities.
- Coordinates community-contact programs to promote goodwill by disseminating information to the community or local area staff.
- Partners with educational institutions to develop outreach campaigns, projects, customer and community presentations, seminars, and special events.
- Oversees community outreach and education programming, including facility tours, presentations, community events, workshops, and projects.
- Supports community involvement through volunteerism, giving, and related programs (e.g., volunteer committees, United Way campaigns, Earth Day events).
- Assists with communication and updating of volunteer assistance and community relations tools for Corporate and Areas.
- Ensures collateral for community events reflects the company’s brand, is effective and compliant, and that employee communications are clear.
- Tracks company community projects, including employee volunteers and company dollars for events supporting communities where WM operates.
- May coordinate and assist in the administration and planning of large company events.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, or in lieu of a degree, a High School Diploma or GED (accredited) plus four (4) years of related experience.
- Three (3) years of previous experience in community relations (in addition to education requirements).

Pay
The expected base pay range for this office/onsite position is $77,970 to $99,000. The specific salary offered may be influenced by factors such as relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. This position is also eligible for incentive pay.
