About the Role

This full-time, exempt position provides direct support to the Police Chief and command staff while assisting with precinct-level crime prevention initiatives and projects that enhance public safety.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and promotes Community Programs such as: Chandler Police Citizen’s Academy, R.A.D., Youth Programs, Crime Prevention activities, etc.
    • Updates website and manages communication throughout the duration of programs
    • Recruits and screens participants
    • Proactively contacts multi-family housing communities about crime trends
    • Engages with homeowners associations related to crime prevention
    • Handles administrative planning
  • Manages the Chandler Police C3 Multi-housing program; processes registrations, inspections, and yearly renewals
  • Provides educational information on crime prevention; responds to community inquiries
  • Represents the Police Department at community displays and engages in impromptu interactions with community members, groups, leaders, businesses, and organizations
  • Maintains files and creates, maintains, and updates databases relevant to crime prevention (e.g., Excel, Canva, PowerPoint, report redaction software, Oracle)
  • Develops and enhances professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepares memorandums and other correspondence and documents
  • Coordinates course instruction for a variety of classes

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED supplemented by some college coursework
  • At least 3 years of prior work experience in administrative support that includes public contact
  • Ability to attain the following certifications:
    • DPS Terminal Operator Certification within 6 months of hire
    • Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Instructor Certification within 1 year of hire
    • Arizona POST General Instructor Certification within 1 year of hire
  • Possess or be able to attain a valid Arizona driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work will be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Former or Retired POST Certified Peace Officers
