About the role

The Community Relations Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the San Francisco 49ers Community Relations department. This role works closely with the CR team to help execute community events, player appearances, and organizational initiatives that make a meaningful impact throughout the Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and execution of community events, including Community Tuesdays, gameday activations, and NFL-led programs such as Crucial Catch, Salute to Service, and Inspire Change.
  • Support player appearance coordination, including scheduling, communication, and on-site logistics.
  • Help manage relationships with nonprofit and community partners.
  • Assist with the execution of 49ers Family programming and player community activations.
  • Support gameday programs including the Champions Program, Make-A-Wish, and Frontline Hero of the Game.
  • Maintain and update program tracking, databases, and recap reports.
  • Assist with in-kind donation requests and inventory management.
  • Maintain and organize the CR storage area of in-kind donations.
  • Provide administrative support to the CR team including scheduling, communications, and correspondence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments including Corporate Partnerships, Foundation, Player Engagement, and Stadium Operations.
  • Represent the 49ers in the community with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree and at least 1-2 years’ relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in professional sports or a nonprofit setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of Bay Area nonprofit and community landscape a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Google Suite experience required.
  • Adobe Photoshop experience is a plus.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including all 49ers home games, weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.
  • Strong event planning and logistics management skills.
  • Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the socio-economic, academic, cultural, and ethnic diversity within the community.

  • The employee will be sitting in a typical office environment the majority of the time and may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • The employee will work in the community in a number of different capacities, such as hosting events in-store at corporate partner retail locations, escorting and managing players and families in visits to hospital partners, and directing and overseeing 49ers front office staff at volunteer events throughout the Bay Area.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit, use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • This position requires the ability to work extended hours and/or weekends.

Travel

15% of local travel time and 5% of intra and interstate travel requiring overnight stay are expected for this position.
