About the role

The Community Paramedic evaluates and treats patients, usually in their own home based on a previous diagnosis and under the direction of advanced providers, offering clinical expertise and education within their specialty and areas of study. They collaborate with Tele Hospitalists, physicians, APPs, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and patient placement teams to manage care of patients in their home environment and for transfers.

Responsibilities

  • Treats patients based on their diagnosis and medical direction in the patients home
  • Affords assistance with medication administration and education
  • Collaborates with all ancillary services, providers, and patients
  • Evaluates patients for various social determinants of health
  • Builds standing relationships with patients who are seen in multiple successive days
  • Assists with education for patients and provides health-related educational opportunities

Requirements

  • Successful completion of Paramedic course
  • Must obtain Paramedic license in state of operation within 120 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification
  • Current valid driver license in good standing
  • Three years of clinical care experience

Qualifications

  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
  • Paramedic National Registry Certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (must obtain within 120 days of hire and maintain throughout employment)
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification (must obtain within 120 days of hire and maintain throughout employment)
  • Attendance License (Before start of employment)
  • Physical requirements include manual dexterity, frequent computer use and typing, lifting and utilizing full range of movement to transfer patients, walking and assisting with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, and navigating crowded and busy rooms.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. $24.30 - $37.52
