Community Outreach Lead Health Educator

What You'll Do

  • Deliver high-quality, medically accurate, culturally responsive education programs on sexuality, reproductive health, and Planned Parenthood services to individuals and groups throughout the community.
  • Facilitate outreach sexual health education programs, professional trainings, and youth leadership programming that increase access to sexual health education in West Tennessee and North Mississippi.
  • Customize lesson plans and curricula, or develop new educational content as needed to meet community and program needs.
  • Maintain fidelity to evidence-based programs and ensure all educational programming aligns with established curriculum standards and organizational guidelines.
  • Utilize appropriate educational methodologies, technology, and facilitation techniques to engage diverse audiences and enhance learning outcomes.
  • Prepare and distribute educational and informational materials and respond to requests for educational resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Community Outreach & Partnership Development

  • Build and maintain authentic, reciprocal relationships with community partners, stakeholders, schools, organizations, and others invested in the health and well-being of young people.
  • Prioritize engagement and partnership opportunities with LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities to expand access to sexual health education and resources.
  • Conduct outreach activities to increase awareness of PPTNM services and to increase educational programming throughout designated service areas.
  • Assist community organizations in identifying, selecting, and implementing appropriate educational programs and resources.
  • Represent Planned Parenthood at community events, health fairs, coalition meetings, and other outreach opportunities, as needed.
  • Career Development & Advisory Board Coordination
  • Lead communications, recruitment, engagement, and program coordination for the West Tennessee Youth Advisory Board (TYAB).
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with youth participants and community partners.
  • Facilitate monthly Youth Advisory Board meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
  • Coordinate and facilitate educational sessions, leadership development opportunities, and community impact projects in partnership with youth participants.
  • Provide ongoing support, mentorship, recognition, and encouragement to youth leaders.
  • Plan, track, and complete program evaluation activities and outcome measurements related to youth engagement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Program Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of educational programs, outreach activities, community partnerships, and participant engagement.
  • Prepare monthly reports and other required documentation related to educational programming, outreach efforts, and grant or organizational reporting requirements.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities including scheduling, program coordination, data entry, inventory tracking, and timely communication.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through participation in workshops, professional development opportunities, networking activities, and review of current educational and public health resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, counseling or related area preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as an educator or trainer.
  • Sexual and reproductive health knowledge is required.
  • Experience with outreach, recruitment, and relationship building required.
  • Experience with public speaking and health program facilitation preferred.
  • Experience working with youth is preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
