Overview
A Social Media Community Manager plays an integral role in the dissemination of clients’ social media content through engagement on social media channels.
Responsibilities
- Manage clients’ social media channels
- Establish and sustain positive interaction with community members
- Maintain the social content calendar; develop timelines, create/distribute/post content, manage deadlines
- Monitor social channels and respond to consumers to help drive positive engagement
- Identify real-time engagement opportunities discovered via social listening; alert supervisor to opportunities; act upon opportunities, as directed by a supervisor
- Identify negative content/risky content generated by consumers; alert supervisors in order to minimize impact to the client or brand
- Monitor results; compile reports
- Determine the need for support staff assistance for projects/program elements and manage support staff during execution
- Understand the resources and tools needed to achieve the clients’ social media marketing; complete tasks that meet objectives
- Build and maintain relationships with social media contacts and influencers on behalf of the agency and clients
- Demonstrate an understanding of the social media landscape and how to use social channels to drive brand awareness and engagement for clients
- Attend client calls and meetings, as determined by a supervisor
- Research ideas for client programs to determine feasibility
- Participate in agency brainstorm sessions for client programs
- Develop strategic/creative thinking skills
- Actively participate in agency committees or departments as designated/asked
- Participate in agency projects and events
- Assist in compilation of awards presentations
- Assist with research for new business and business renewal opportunities, as directed by a supervisor
Ability to:
- Understand the intricacies of established and emerging social channels
- Optimize messaging to effectively engage with community members
- Understand the clients’ business and relevant industry trends, and the role social media plays with PR and in the overall marketing mix
- Manage multiple projects across multiple accounts
- Prioritize work, meet deadlines and actively communicate progress and deliverables (i.e. time management)
- Learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced work environment
- Travel to client and event locations; meet with clients at their office locations/headquarters
- Demonstrate solid writing and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in maintaining a client’s/brand’s social media voice and tone
- Stay current with developments in social media, current trends, technology updates and top news stories in the clients’ and brands’ spaces
- Show integrity and good judgment when working with colleagues and clients
Qualifications
- B.A. in Marketing, Public Relations or the like
- Up to two (2) years of experience managing social channels for brands
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with social media management tools and social listening and analytics platforms (e.g. Hootsuite, Sprout Social)
Pay
The target range of base compensation for this role is $60,000-72,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
