Community Lawyering Center Adjunct Faculty Assistant

The UNT Dallas College of Law is seeking applications from Legal Aid of Northwest Texas or the Dallas Public Defenders Office to serve as adjunct faculty assistants during the Summer of 2026. The position involves supervising law students in representing clients with a variety of legal issues.

About the role

The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty is to supervise law students in the Community Lawyering Centers, ensuring they receive quality instruction and provide effective legal representation to clients. Candidates must have a J.D. degree and be currently employed by Legal Aid of Northwest Texas or the Dallas Public Defenders Office. They should possess excellent academic and professional qualifications, practice experience sufficient for teaching, and a commitment to the college's educational goals.

Responsibilities

• Supervise law students in the Community Lawyering Centers.
• Ensure students receive quality instruction and effective legal representation.
• Work closely with faculty to maintain a high-quality educational environment.
• Meet parameters set by the Experiential Education program.

Requirements

• J.D. degree.
• Currently employed by Legal Aid of Northwest Texas or the Dallas Public Defenders Office.
• Superb academic and professional qualifications.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students.
• Commitment to the college's educational goals.

Qualifications

• Practice experience sufficient for teaching.
• Excellence in teaching and mentoring.
• Knowledge of best instructional practices.
• Experience with formative and summative assessments.
• Engaged class design and experiential education.

Skills and abilities

• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 20 pounds.
• Sedentary work and repetitive motions.
• No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Physical requirements

• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.

• Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers.

Work schedule

• As required by academic schedule.
• No driving of university vehicles.
• No security-sensitive position.
