Toolworks, in partnership with people with disabilities, is a human service agency dedicated to providing the tools and resources that promote independence, equality, and personal satisfaction. Toolworks provides programs including job placement and training, community integration, and community living services.

About the role

Coordinate the necessary support of daily activity, employment, and instruction while centering the acquisition of skills that promote independence and community integration for people with disabilities.

Location: Berkeley and East Bay areas.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise, train, and conduct performance evaluations for Employment Development Specialists and Instructors, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with California labor laws.
  • Assist with staff development on a day-to-day basis.
  • Monitor client progress through case notes and complete monthly attendance reports and other relevant HCBS reporting.
  • Complete person-centered plans, placement planning documents, ISP's/IHSP's, monthly reports including billing, and all other assigned paperwork.
  • Coordinate client and staff schedules for each site.
  • Maintain positive business relationships with community members, client home support networks, and management/owners of companies where clients are placed to ensure ongoing satisfaction of Toolworks' services.
  • Develop new recreational and work opportunities for clients by meeting with potential volunteer sites, employers, and businesses.
  • Attend job fairs and conduct community outreach.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including OSHA standards and California labor laws.
  • Oversee staff adherence to safety protocols, including COVID-19 guidelines.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • B.A. in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with adults with disabilities is required, preferably in a community setting.
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language, Spanish, or Cantonese skills preferred and may be required depending on the specific population served.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet client needs.
  • Strong writing and time management skills; patient and detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

$73,000 - $75,500 per year, depending on experience.
