COMMUNITY HEALTH OUTREACH WORKER II FULL-TIME CONTRACTUAL

Location: MDH, Allegany County Health Department, Cumberland, MD

About the Role

This full-time contractual position provides health and disease prevention information on lead and asthma to medically underserved populations in the community and assists them in adopting healthy behaviors. This position will improve outcomes and reduce disparities for eligible children with either blood lead exposure, moderate to severe persistent asthma, or both.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• One year of experience in providing information on health care and disease prevention within the community.

Notes:

• Candidates may substitute experience providing assistance to individuals in a health care or social services setting on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
• Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Licenses and Certifications

• Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Benefits

• Contractual employees who work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. Employees pay 25% of the premiums for medical and prescription coverage; the State subsidizes the remaining 75%.
• Optional enrollment in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance (full premium paid by employee).
• Leave may be granted at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
