Main Purpose of Job:
The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to provide comprehensive school nursing services to the students and staff of the Dorchester County Public Schools.
Key Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
- Medication administration
- Skilled nursing treatments
- Age appropriate health screenings
- Care of the sick or injured
- Health record maintenance
- Immunization reviews
- Case management of chronic health concerns
- Care plan development
- Multidisciplinary team participation
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: None.
- Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and one year of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute two years of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
- Licenses, Registrations and Certifications: Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.
Special Requirements
- Employees in this classification will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.
Benefits
- Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.
- The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.
- You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
- Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
