About the Role
This full-time contractual position provides comprehensive school nursing services to the students and staff of the Dorchester County Public Schools.
Responsibilities
- Medication administration
- Skilled nursing treatments
- Age-appropriate health screenings
- Assessment and care of the sick or injured
- Health record maintenance
- Immunization reviews
- Case management of chronic health concerns
- Care plan development
- Multidisciplinary team participation
Requirements
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and one year of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute two years of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
Qualifications
Candidates for this position must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.
- Employees may be assigned duties requiring a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
- Employees will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.
Benefits
Contractual employees who work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.
- Employees pay 25% of the premiums for medical and prescription coverage; the State subsidizes the remaining 75%.
- Optional enrollment in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance (full premium paid by employee).
- Leave accrual at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
