About the role
This full-time contractual position engages directly with community members affected by substance use disorders by providing education, resources, and support in accessible, community-based settings. This position is required to attend outreach events to deliver overdose prevention training (including Narcan administration), stigma reduction through open dialogue, and sharing information about treatment and recovery options.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- Candidates may substitute experience providing assistance to individuals in a health care or social services setting on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
Licenses and certifications
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
Benefits
- Contractual employees who work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. The State of Maryland will subsidize 75% of the cost for medical and prescription coverage; employees are responsible for the remaining 25%.
- Optional enrollment in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, with the employee paying the full premium.
- Leave may be granted at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
