Description
Community Health Advocate will conduct on-campus and off-site screenings for the Health Screening Program. The advocate will measure blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference, and administer finger stick blood sampling. Blood samples will be drawn and analyzed on site using a CardioCheck machine. Lab results from the CardioCheck tests will be provided to each client and reviewed by the advocate as needed. The advocate may provide verbal and written educational materials as requested. Responsibilities include transportation of supplies, organization, hygiene, and managing the flow of participants at the screen. This position works with adult and geriatric patients.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
- Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, nutrition, nursing, or related health field required.
- Experience or high level of interest in disease prevention/lifestyle modification areas preferred.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
- Valid Iowa Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, and be at least 18 years of age.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three (3) months of hire.
