Community Events Specialist
About the role
Joining a new Wayfair store launch means being part of something special from Day 1. During the first several weeks, you will work alongside the team to help set up, organize, and prepare the store for opening, which will look different from your long term day to day responsibilities. This hands on, team first experience helps bring our store to life and sets us up for success once we open our doors to the community and our customers.
Responsibilities
- Event Support & Execution: Lead and deliver engaging in-store and external community events that boost brand visibility and drive foot traffic.
- Logistics Management: Coordinate setup, breakdown, staffing, and vendor needs to ensure smooth, successful events.
- Customer Engagement: Serve as the main contact during events, answering questions and ensuring a positive experience and impression of Wayfair.
- Promotional Oversight: Manage distribution and tracking of promotional materials and coupons accurately.
- Content Creation Instincts: Capture and help create engaging social media content in partnership with the Marketing team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with leadership, store support teams, and People Operations to align event goals with business priorities.
- In-Store Support: Assist with visual merchandising and promotional displays during non-event periods to keep the store fresh and inviting.
- Operate as “One Team”: Support Wayfair’s total store goals by cross-training across key store functions, including sales and back-of-house operations. Flex where needed to support customers, teammates, store needs and peak business periods.
Requirements
- Relevant Experience: 1-2 years in event execution, hospitality, community engagement, or customer-facing roles.
- Strong Organization: Skilled at managing event logistics and leading staff from start to finish.
- Team Leadership: Experience directing small teams and coordinating vendors during fast-paced events.
- Excellent Communication: Confidence in engaging new and existing customers, partners, and senior leaders with warmth and clarity.
- Creative Problem-Solving: Detail-oriented with a passion for people, events, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Self-Starter Attitude: Independent, adaptable, and energized by fast-moving, high-impact environments.
- Expert in “Mobile” Photography: You’ve got an eye for great shots and know how to make everyday moments pop on camera—using just your phone. Clean, well-composed, scroll-stopping photos? That’s your thing.
- Flexible Availability: Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays to support event and store needs.
- Travel Readiness: Comfortable with up to 50% travel, typically within a 50-mile radius, to support events and community engagements.
Qualifications
- Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.
- Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.
- Lifting Ability: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis. Some projects may involve heavier items, which must be managed with proper assistance or equipment.
- Vision Requirements: Includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Temperature Flexibility: Comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions.
- Noise Tolerance: Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels and physical activity.
- Safety Awareness: Minimal exposure to workplace or environmental hazards—must adhere to all safety protocols.

Pay
Hourly Base Pay: USD 19.00 - USD 22.00
