About the role

The Community Event Specialist role is a key position within Wayfair Stores, responsible for driving brand visibility and customer traffic through engaging community-focused events. Reporting to the Manager of People & Community, this role involves leading event execution, supporting in-store promotions, and managing event logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as “One Team” by cross-training across key store functions and supporting customers, teammates, and store needs.
  • Support and deliver engaging in-store and external community events that boost brand visibility and drive foot traffic.
  • Carefully coordinate setup, breakdown, staffing, and vendor needs to ensure smooth, successful events.
  • Serve as the main contact during events, answering questions and ensuring a positive experience and impression of Wayfair.
  • Manage distribution and tracking of promotional materials and coupons accurately.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership, store support teams, new store openings, and People Operations to align event goals with business priorities.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in event execution, hospitality, community engagement, or customer-facing roles.
  • Strong organizational skills, skilled at managing event logistics and leading staff from start to finish.
  • Experience directing small teams and coordinating vendors during fast-paced events.
  • Excellent communication skills, confidence in engaging new and existing customers, partners, and senior leaders with warmth and clarity.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for people, events, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Self-starter attitude, independent, adaptable, and energized by fast-moving, high-impact environments.
  • Expert in “mobile” photography, with an eye for great shots and the ability to make everyday moments pop on camera.
  • Flexible availability required to work nights, weekends, and holidays to support event and store needs.
  • Comfortable with up to 50% travel, typically within a 50-mile radius, to support events and community engagements.

Qualifications

  • Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.
  • Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.
  • Lifting Ability: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $20.00, and it is non-negotiable. Future pay increases are determined by performance, growth, and time in role, in accordance with our compensation policy.

Schedule

Flexible schedule to accommodate event and store needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
