Community Events Specialist
About the role
The Community Event Specialist position at Wayfair Stores is responsible for executing engaging community-focused events that drive customer traffic and local awareness. Reporting to the Manager of People & Community, this role involves leading event execution from supplier demos to community gatherings, supporting in-store promotions, sales, events, and visual merchandising, and owning how Wayfair connects with customers and communities through memorable experiences.
Responsibilities
- Operate as “One Team”: Support Wayfair’s total store goals by cross-training across key store functions, including sales and back-of-house operations, and flexing where needed to support customers, teammates, store needs, and peak business periods.
- Support and deliver engaging in-store and external community events that boost brand visibility and drive foot traffic.
- Cook logistics management: Coordinate setup, breakdown, staffing, and vendor needs to ensure smooth, successful events.
- Serve as the main contact during events, answering questions and ensuring a positive experience and impression of Wayfair.
- Manage distribution and tracking of promotional materials and coupons accurately.
- Work closely with leadership, store support teams, new store openings, and People Operations to align event goals with business priorities.
Requirements
- 1-2 years in event execution, hospitality, community engagement, or customer-facing roles.
- Strong organization: Skilled at managing event logistics and leading staff from start to finish.
- Team leadership: Experience directing small teams and coordinating vendors during fast-paced events.
- Excellent communication: Confidence in engaging new and existing customers, partners, and senior leaders with warmth and clarity.
- Creative problem-solving: Detail-oriented with a passion for people, events, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Self-starter attitude: Independent, adaptable, and energized by fast-moving, high-impact environments.
- Expert in “Mobile” Photography: You’ve got an eye for great shots and know how to make everyday moments pop on camera—using just your phone.
- Flexible availability: Required to work nights, weekends, and holidays to support event and store needs.
- Travel readiness: Comfortable with up to 50% travel, typically within a 50-mile radius, to support events and community engagements.
Qualifications
- Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.
- Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.
- Lifting Ability: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis. Some projects may involve heavier items, which must be managed with proper assistance or equipment.
- Vision Requirements: Includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Temperature Flexibility: Comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions.
- Noise Tolerance: Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels and physical activity.
- Safety Awareness: Minimal exposure to workplace or environmental hazards – must adhere to all safety protocols.

Pay
The hourly rate for this position is $22.00, and it is non-negotiable. Future pay increases are determined by performance, growth, and time in role, in accordance with our compensation policy.
