About the role

AWS is hiring a Community Engagement Manager to lead InCommunities initiatives for the AWS Data Center Community. This position can be based out of New Carlisle, IN or Chicago, IL and will support the business across the midwest, with a primary focus on our infrastructure across North West Indiana.

This is a strategic role that will allow the right candidate to support the AWS business. As a Community Engagement Manager, you will be a subject matter expert on external issues management and working with our neighbors around our Data Center Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Key job responsibilities include leading strategy development and bespoke execution of Community Engagement expertise for major data center infrastructure project, designing and executing InCommunites signature events and programs, and providing vision for the sustainable community engagement initiatives across the region.

You will communicate the impact of InCommunities programs internally and externally, represent AWS Infrastructure publicly in meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and utilize multiple communications channels to drive employee awareness and involvement in community engagement initiatives.

You will serve as the region’s Issues Manager, proactively addressing internal and external issues that pose reputational risks to AWS and business objectives, and support community assessment for new sites in the region.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional or military experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years professional experience in External Affairs, Public Policy, Communications, Community Engagement or related field
  • Previous experience supporting major infrastructure development projects

Preferred qualifications include experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units, and experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree is required, and 10+ years of professional experience in External Affairs, Public Policy, Communications, Community Engagement or a related field is preferred.

Skills

The ideal candidate will have experience in community engagement, external affairs, public policy, communications, or a related field, and will be able to think strategically and scale InCommunities programming as AWS business grows.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually, and your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

Schedule

This role will require you to be physically, on-the-ground in locations, roll up sleeves and get work done when required.
