Positions: Aquatics Staff positions available (lifeguard, instructor, deck manager) Salary: $14 - $22.75/hr depending on assignment and qualifications Job Category: Casual Locations: Plymouth Middle School & Sandburg Middle School Work Schedule: Flexible: M-F evenings, 5:30 - 9:00 and weekends available Summary The Community Education Aquatics team is responsible for providing safe, high-quality swim lessons to all participants. Staff are required to communicate with students and families, clearly explaining expectations, lesson objectives, and outcomes. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: All Staff Must Maintain a safe environment for all participants and staffKnow and enforce all program policies and rulesFollow established emergency proceduresRespond effectively in an emergency situationMaintain current required certificationsInspect pool area for cleanliness, safety hazards, and unsafe conditionsMaintain a professional appearance while on dutyArrive on time in proper uniformParticipate in in-service training Swim Instructors Must Teach lessons according to lesson plansBe responsible for testing for assigned levelsDirect and maintain control of class participantsBe responsible for accurately maintaining paperwork for each classCommunicate effectively with the general public and staff membersDemonstrate swimming strokesAccurately evaluate class structure and participant stroke proficiencyPerform other related duties as assigned The Deck Manager is also responsible for directing and supporting staff, monitoring quality of instruction, ensuring safe practices are followed, communicating with families about student progress, and informing Aquatics Coordinator of any concerns. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 14 years oldAbility to work with people from various culturesDemonstrate excellent customer service and problem solving skillsAble to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.Providing effective customer service and dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.Effective verbal and written communicationCurrent CPR, and First-Aid Certificates within two months of hireCurrent Water Safety Instructors Certificate preferredLifeguard certification preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work and heavy phone usage.
