About the role

The Community Donation Manager is accountable for the overall management and direction of the processes associated with the day-to-day functions of the Community Donation Center, making Savers the donation center of choice. This role upholds company standards, regulations, and laws throughout all donor areas of the store (inside and outside), ensuring fast, friendly, and respectful service at the point of donation. The manager promotes brand awareness in the community and develops relationships with local organizations to partner with Savers, while leading a team of Community Donation Center Ambassadors.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Community Donation Center (CDC) is organized, clean, safe, and welcoming; maintain donation flow, storage, and staging.
  • Partner with the Production Manager/Store Manager to manage donation flow into the production room, facilitating a manageable supply at all times.
  • Engage with customers and donors to actively promote Savers’ brand both in-store and in the community.
  • Ensure donations are accurately weighed by classification and accounted for.
  • Plan, track, and measure donation goals and results.
  • Use the CDC Scheduler and Daily Planner to schedule CDC Ambassadors, aligning coverage with expected volume and donor traffic.
  • Utilize branded sign packages and company-approved materials to promote the Savers brand.
  • Leverage the Voice of the Customer Program to improve donor satisfaction.
  • Perform the duties of the CDC Ambassador as required.
  • Lead, direct, and supervise the work of CDC Ambassadors; plan staffing needs, recruit, select, and train new team members.
  • Regularly interact, train, coach, and counsel CDC Ambassadors, providing recognition and candid feedback.
  • Develop a culture of genuine appreciation for donors and donations, ensuring Ambassadors provide fast, friendly, and respectful service.
  • Identify and develop high-potential team members for supervisory and management positions.
  • Role model and maintain a respectful, values-driven workplace adhering to all Savers’ Policies and Procedures.
  • Deliver a positive and unforgettable donor experience by training, coaching, and role-modeling donor service expectations.
  • Continuously assess donor areas and direct team member activity to ensure standards are met.
  • Actively engage with donors to seek feedback and make improvements to the donor experience.
  • Respond to donor questions, requests, and complaints.
  • Educate all team members on Savers’ brand, empowering them to share the business model with customers and the community.
  • Promote awareness of the nonprofit partner, joint brands, and community impact.
  • Drive company promotions and grassroots efforts to create community awareness of the CDC and the company brand.
  • Partner with the Sourcing team to lead or assist in Fundrive events as needed.
  • Network within the community through grassroots efforts to share the Savers story and promote awareness.

Requirements

  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and coach the work of others.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or verbal form.
  • Ability to reason, make decisions, and use independent judgment in various situations.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • High School diploma; post-Secondary degree/diploma preferred.
  • Experience managing people preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and carry products weighing less than 5 lbs; occasionally lift and carry products up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional pushing and pulling of racks/carts weighing 50 to 250 pounds using 4–10 lbs. of force.
  • Frequent reaching in various levels/directions to inspect/handle merchandise, validate work processes, train/coach/counsel the team.
  • Possess dexterity for complex hand-eye tasks, including keyboarding, writing, merchandise inspection, and pricing activities.
  • Continuous standing, frequent walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and occasional kneeling.
  • Frequently required to read written and electronic documents and product labels.
  • Continuous need to hear and verbally communicate to interact with management, team members, and customers.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous machinery (compactor, baler, Big Joe), solvents (cleaners, detergents), radiation (microwave in break room), dust, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Ability to adjust work schedule to the needs of the business, including working nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able and willing to safely navigate work environments that may include large industrial machinery, heavy equipment, elevated and uneven surfaces, heights, and moving forklifts.
  • Frequent reaching to move/stack boxes, move product on and off hangers, rails, carts, and stock product on display racks/shelves.

Pay

$20.80 - $30.00 per hour (45 hours per week).
