Community Development Assistant

About the role

The Prince George’s County Department of Health is seeking a Community Development Assistant (Community Development Assistant I/IIA) grade A12/14 position in the Family Health Services Division (WIC Program).

Responsibilities

• Performs entry para-professional assignments.
• Assists with the conducting of fact-finding and assessment of client needs.
• Screens for financial and residential eligibility in accordance with federal and state WIC guidelines.
• Interprets assessment data and accurately determines nutrition risk according to State WIC policies and procedures.
• Assigns and documents appropriate food packages based on current WIC policy and procedures.
• Affords assistance in planning, developing, and enforcing regular scheduled programs and special events or activities for clients.
• Affords assistance in establishing and maintaining supplies, equipment, transportation and other logistical services.
• Prepares and submits reports and data for management purposes.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school, supplemented by college level courses in business, psychology or sociology.
• Experience in work requiring independent action based on mature judgment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by college level courses in business, psychology or sociology.
• Experience: Previous experience performing work that requires independent action based on mature judgment.
