Community Coordinator
Reporting to: Community Manager
Location: The University of York Student Centre, James College, Newton Way, York, YO10 5DD / Potential hybrid options
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week
Salary: Starting at £27,325 per annum
About The Role
York SU is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to work on key community building projects that will support students to make connections, foster inclusive and culturally diverse spaces, and empower student voice and representation.
The post holder will be responsible for providing operational support, advice, and guidance to the University’s college committees to enable them to deliver a range of student-led activities and events for their members. The role will include:
- Supporting college committees for flagship events such as Welcome Week and cross-year community building activities
- Supporting democratic initiatives such as the annual College Elections
- Facilitating the training and development of elected officers in collaboration with the University
- Developing and delivering community building events and activities that engage students from a wide range of backgrounds and foster a sense of belonging
- Working with other student groups and key stakeholders to support student-led community building initiatives, with a focus on fostering intercultural spaces and activities that celebrate diversity and widen participation
The post holder will work closely with the Community Development Coordinator in the development of this Union’s programme of activity.
This is a full-time (35hrs/wk), permanent role starting 21st September 2026 (flexible start date possible). Employees must be available to work from campus, with the option for occasional home working if appropriate and agreed with their line manager.
