Position Summary

The Community Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating meaningful community-based experiences for Shepherds College students on Fridays throughout the school year. This position will develop and maintain community partnerships and create experiences that support students' growth in one or more of Shepherds College's four pillars of training: Faith Journey, Life Skills, Personal Development, and Job Readiness.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate weekly Friday community experiences that align with student goals and Shepherds College's four pillars of training.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with businesses, organizations, churches, and other community partners, while identifying and pursuing new opportunities for students.
  • Serve as the primary Shepherds College point-person during Friday experiences, providing leadership and direction to students, staff, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate the logistics of community experiences, including scheduling, communication with partners, transportation, supplies, and other necessary arrangements.
  • Help students apply skills learned through classroom instruction in authentic community settings while encouraging increasing independence and appropriate community participation.
  • Meet regularly with the Campus Director to review upcoming plans, evaluate community experiences, and identify opportunities for improvement and continued partnership.
