About the role

Assist students in developing employment skills, community access skills, independent living skills, transportation skills, and social skills. Work closely with high school case managers to provide community resources, including agency supports and employment presenters. Participate in transition planning.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with community-based access skills.
• Assist in high school classroom to develop job search skills, interview skills, and connections to community resources.
• Document student progress and write reports on student work.
• Assist with organizing and attending adult agency tours.
• Attend various meetings including: Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings, Agency meetings, department and/or team meetings, and 18-21 Community Connection Program planning meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate's (or higher) Degree OR 2 years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester hours) OR passed the Work Keys Exam (Applied Mathematics, Workplace Documents, and Business Writing).
• 0–2 years experience.
• Knowledge of adolescent development, behavior management, and disability categories.
• Knowledge of the community and employment opportunities is preferred.
• Ability to promote and follow Board of Education Coherent Governance Policies, District Policies, and building and department procedures.
• Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required for hire.
