About the Project
The M has partnered with Penny Kagigebi (White Earth Ojibwe/direct descendant) to develop Queering Indigeneity, a multi-year, multi-generational project focusing on 2-Spirit, Native queer, and gender-expansive vision in great diversity and celebration.
Guided by Kagigebi, the M aims to amplify Indigenous artists and culture bearers, influencing both the artists supported and centered at the museum and presenting a more comprehensive, nuanced, and authentic narrative of Minnesotan art for Indigenous and non-Indigenous visitors alike.
Exhibition Details
Queering Indigeneity will open at the M in the Nancy and John Lindahl Gallery on September 18, 2025, featuring 16 Native artists from the Upper Midwest:
