Community Associate Supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing social services operations and seamless transitions from one shift to the next
  • Supervising and supporting community associates, including reviewing complete assessments
  • Ensuring that community associates staff provide culturally sensitive, trauma-informed services
  • Ensuring appropriate staff coverage and monitoring attendance
  • Intervening in crises and counseling clients as needed
  • Planning and troubleshooting with operations and security staff
  • Troubleshooting with NYC Department of Education (DOE)
  • Troubleshooting with the Mayors’ Office of Immigration Affairs (MOIA)
  • Providing coverage for community associate staff as needed
  • Meting with operations and security staff for planning and site management
  • Managing and documenting incidents
  • Managing and updating rosters and attendance
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or two years of relevant social services experience with people who are vulnerable and have experiences significant trauma
  • PREFERRED: Master’s degree on social work or other human services field + two years of relevant experience working with people who enter the U.S. seeking asylum
  • Strong understanding of trauma and how it manifests, as well as experience delivering trauma informed culturally sensitive services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and problem-solve under pressure and within prescribed timelines
  • Strong organizational leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage team
  • Working knowledge of immigration laws and procedures
  • Strong understanding of child development, child welfare, and education requirements
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken) preferred
  • Two years experience supervising social services staff in the delivery of culturally sensitive, trauma-informed services, desired
  • Solid understanding of immigration laws, regulations, procedures, and benefits/entitlements
  • Experience working on-site in a congregate housing setting
  • Experience working on-site in a congregate housing setting
  • Experience working with the NYC Department of Education and Administrations for Children’s Services’ child welfare systems
  • Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Community Engagement Supervisor, Shift Coordinator, or Community Operations Shift Lead

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Community Associate Shift Supervisor: $ 31.25
