About The Kahn-Kirwin Foundation

The Kahn-Kirwin Foundation is a New York-based nonprofit organization founded by artist Scott Kahn and writer Frederick Kirwin. Dedicated to supporting emerging artists while preserving and advancing the artistic and literary legacies of its founders, the Foundation's work spans artist residencies, archival initiatives, exhibitions, publications, educational programming, and institutional partnerships.

About the Role

As the Foundation enters its inaugural year, we are seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Communications & Social Media Intern to help shape and grow our public presence during an exciting period of institutional development. The successful candidate will help develop and execute the Foundation's communications strategy, curate its social media presence, and create engaging content surrounding exhibitions, artist residencies, archival projects, partnerships, fundraising initiatives, and special events.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience managing social media accounts, either professionally, academically, or independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar creative software
  • Familiarity with Instagram, LinkedIn, and current digital marketing trends
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently
  • A portfolio or examples of previous social media work, and/or links to accounts currently or previously managed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with an artist, gallery, museum, nonprofit, or cultural institution
  • Familiarity with the contemporary art market and/or nonprofit organizations
  • Interest in visual arts, arts administration, philanthropy, or cultural programming
  • Photography and videography skills are a plus

Pay: $30–50/hour (commensurate with experience)

Schedule: PT (10 hours/week)
