Communications Publicist, NYC
About the role
New York is one of Soho House’s most important markets, and we are looking for a highly connected, energetic and hands-on Communications Publicist to help maintain and grow our leading reputation across the city. This is a relationship-led, externally focused role for someone who knows New York, knows the people who shape its cultural conversation, and is excited by the opportunity to get out there and make things happen.
The role spans Soho House’s New York Houses, Soho Home, Soho Works, and public restaurants including Cecconi’s, as well as the wider cultural moments, partnerships, and experiences that make New York such an important part of the Soho House story. We are looking for someone who has the creativity, confidence, and black book of contacts to uncover opportunities, build meaningful relationships, and deliver impactful stories and content.
Responsibilities
- Run day-to-day media, creator, and influencer relations for Soho House’s New York portfolio, working closely with the Junior Communications Manager Americas and wider NYC team.
- Build and maintain an active, high-quality network of New York journalists, editors, creators, cultural figures, and tastemakers across lifestyle, culture, hospitality, food, interiors, design, and the creative industries.
- Develop and implement targeted communications activity that generates meaningful coverage, conversation, and content across print, digital, broadcast, and social channels.
- Pitch creatively and proactively, finding the right story, the right person, and the right moment rather than relying solely on traditional media outreach.
- Build authentic relationships with New York-based content creators and influencers whose voice, audience, and cultural relevance genuinely align with Soho House.
- Invite NY-based media and cultural voices to Soho House experiences, events, and Houses in ways that feel natural, relevant, and credible.
- Identify opportunities to amplify the people, places, experiences, and stories that make Soho House distinctive in New York.
- Support Junior Communications Manager Americas with major New York launches, events, partnerships, and cultural moments to deliver strong local communications and media engagement.
- Develop and maintain high-quality New York publicity materials, including media kits, announcements, briefing materials, product mailers, and targeted outreach.
- Be highly visible and well-connected within the New York media and cultural landscape, regularly meeting contacts and creating opportunities for the brand.
- Monitor New York media and social conversation, providing regular insight to the wider communications team and identifying issues or emerging narratives that could impact Soho House’s reputation.
- Establish a close working partnership with the Junior Communications Manager Americas to strengthen the overall New York communications operation.
Requirements
- An established and active network of New York media contacts, journalists, editors, and cultural voices, with the credibility and confidence to pick up the phone and get a conversation started.
- Strong relationships with relevant New York-based content creators and a genuine understanding of who is culturally relevant—not simply who has the biggest following.
- A little black book of contacts/PRs across culturally relevant lifestyle and creative brands.
- A proven track record of generating quality media coverage and organic creator content in New York, ideally within hospitality, lifestyle, culture, food, fashion, interiors, design, or a related sector.
- Naturally curious about New York and understands its cultural landscape, neighborhoods, personalities, and conversations.
- Excellent judgment about what makes a good story, who will care about it, and how to make it relevant.
- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to quickly adopt Soho House’s tone of voice and communicate with confidence and personality.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Calm under pressure, adaptable, and comfortable changing direction when opportunities arise.
- A roll-up-your-sleeves, can-do attitude. You should be someone who sees an opportunity and goes after it, rather than waiting to be given a brief.
- A collaborative team player who will work closely with, support, and complement the existing Americas and Global communications team.
