Summary
Operates communication equipment including inter and intra PBX operations, manages hospital information systems, TTY/TTD for the hearing impaired, and CCTV surveillance. Handles emergency calls, operates hospital alarms, and provides customer service.Responsibilities
- Channels all incoming calls, connects patients, physicians, and management with long distance calls, and documents international and physician toll calls.
- Responds to emergency calls following established protocols, notifies appropriate departments, documents and records, and informs personnel, physicians, and clergy when necessary.
- Assists callers using audible page, digital or voice pagers, cell phones, or radios.
- Operates and views CCTV monitors, reports unusual behavior, documents all activities, and notifies security of malfunctioning equipment.
- Maintains and restricts patient telephones, documents restrictions and releases, and notifies security for emergency situations.
- Monitors and controls OB stairwell door air-phone, employee patio entrance, and PBX entrance, ensuring proper identification before granting access.
- Checks cameras daily, documents any problems, and reports to Advantage by email, cc’s Director and supervisor of the department.
- Provides daily shift lists, weekly and weekend “on call” lists, and maintains an interpreter list.
- Exhibits behaviors and actions that create high levels of patient/customer satisfaction, maintain hospital credibility, integrity, and positive image, and support the hospital's mission and operations.
- Accurately interprets and communicates Human Resources Policies and Procedures, demonstrates flexibility, adapts readily to changes, maintains a positive attitude, and supports professional growth and development.
- Complies and adheres to all CSV policies, maintains positive attendance, and adheres to patient and environmental safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent education required.
- N/A for certifications/licenses.
- Telephone etiquette skills, computer skills, effective communication skills, including clear and audible speaking, and bilingual proficiency preferred.
- Communications/switchboard experience preferred.
