Job Overview
The Communications Operator relays incoming and outgoing calls to the hospital, monitors operations of telephone and paging systems, and ensures that telephone equipment is in good, working order.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Preferred: Familiarity with switchboard communications and medical terminology, experience in acute care and / or ambulatory care environment, prior switchboard experience and knowledge of Microsoft applications

Essential Functions
- Maintains communication between patients and hospital staff
- Monitors emergency alarms, communicates medical and other information to authorized recipients
- Operates the paging system, sound alarms, and announce medical codes / disasters / other emergencies in accordance with institutional policies
- Works collaboratively on Performance Improvement initiatives to better the Communications Department for the Organization
