About the role

At Dollywood Parks & Resorts, we create memories worth repeating! We are seeking a Communications Officer who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while bringing families closer together and caring deeply about our brand. The ideal Communications Officer will be equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator. This role exists to provide all Dollywood Company properties with Safety and Security Dispatch and Communication Services.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and field Emergency and Non-Emergency calls for service from hosts and guests.
  • Track and document the status, locations, and times of responders. Enter all information into CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) in a timely, accurate manner, documenting all details to prevent liability.
  • Dispatch Armed Security and Safety to calls, relaying the correct location and providing all safety-critical details to ensure responders bring the proper equipment.
  • Identify Emergency and Non-Emergency calls for service and prioritize accordingly.
  • Make safety-critical decisions accurately and rapidly while using good judgment and remaining calm in crisis situations.
  • Monitor the alarm system and dispatch the appropriate response.
  • Monitor the weather radar for any lightning strikes within 10 miles of the park, ensuring closure of specific attractions to keep guests and hosts safe.
  • Monitor email and GroupMe (on-park text app) for operational and Security/Safety concerns.
  • Enter work orders to Maintenance as needed to ensure guest excellence and address Safety/Security concerns.
  • Coordinate response for outside agencies in Emergency Situations (Police, Fire, and EMS).
  • Contact or alert guests and hosts using Park Pulse or other means as technology changes.
  • Contact hosts and PICs on the park via radio or phone, relaying pertinent information.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment which can change at any time.
  • Monitor multiple radio frequencies, answer telephone lines, and respond to radio traffic while documenting all information into the CAD.
  • Familiarize with park layout and all entry/exit points, gates, etc.
  • Communicate in accordance with FCC regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Computer skills are essential; experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is mandatory.
  • Must be able to type 25 wpm.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain within one year.
  • Able to pass drug/alcohol testing and criminal background check.
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles according to company policy. Must have valid driver’s license, proof of auto liability insurance, and acceptable motor vehicle driving record.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

  • Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs utilizing company’s safety guidelines for safe lifting.
  • Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing, and/or walking for the duration of the shift, up to 13 hours.
  • Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms, or other body parts as part of typical job functions.
  • Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
  • Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail, and communicate effectively using approved communication methods.
