About the Role

The Trager Institute is seeking a Communications and Marketing Specialist II to manage all outreach, marketing, and applicant pipeline activities for the Rural Outreach, Opportunity, and Training for Sustainable Workforce (ROOTS) Program. This role involves designing and distributing print and digital recruitment materials, representing ROOTS at events, coordinating with partners to identify eligible rural candidates, maintaining the applicant tracking system, managing cohort enrollment and waitlists, and preparing recruitment reports. Close communication with the grant leadership team, trainees, and state leadership is required to ensure compliance with funder expectations. This position is grant-funded, and continued employment is contingent upon funding availability.

Responsibilities

  • Design and distribute recruiting materials (print and digital).
  • Represent the ROOTS program at AHEC events, workforce development convenings, and community health fairs.
  • Coordinate with AHEC, ADD, and CBO partners to identify eligible rural candidates for each cohort.
  • Maintain the ROOTS applicant tracking system and program correspondence.
  • Manage cohort enrollment and waitlists.
  • Prepare required recruitment reporting for the RHTP Workforce Workgroup.
  • Update Trager executive staff on grant progress and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Occasional travel and weekend work may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Organized, task-oriented, and detail-focused.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to lead, direct, and mentor a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate the success of strategies and recommend changes as needed.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to propose solutions to challenges.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, community members, and the Trager team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience on grants.
  • Experience in community health work and knowledge of rural community resources and services.
  • Experience working with professional teams and in healthcare settings.
  • Expertise in using digital tools to develop effective recruitment materials.
  • Comfort with technology and ability to troubleshoot issues during remote trainings.

Pay

Target compensation range: $48,225.00 – $72,389.00, commensurate with candidate experience.
