Communications and Marketing Associate Director
About the role
Oversees complex storytelling and campaign initiatives and ensures communications align with institutional top priorities. Provides project management planning and support to the AVP and the Vice President of Public Affairs and Chief Communications Officer in tracking and achieving progress toward UCM goals. Reinforces Tulane’s brand and reputation through writing, editing, and reviewing copy for reports, websites, and executive-level emails to the university community. Ensures the timely, accurate, and high-quality delivery of high-profile projects across UCM and other campus partners. Directs cross-team projects, identifies requirements and dependencies, and addresses obstacles as they arise. Contributes to the continuous improvement of communications processes and tools.
Responsibilities
- Develop and direct strategic communications and marketing campaigns and plans
- Write, edit, and develop content with executive-level polish
- Lead and organize cross-functional project teams
- Utilize project management tools and methodologies to optimize team productivity
- Advise and support senior leaders while navigating institutional priorities
- Engage stakeholders with a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field (required)
- 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic communications, marketing, public affairs, or project management
- Demonstrated success directing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives and executive-level communications
- Proficiency in preparing in-depth reports and presentations (preferred)
- Advanced certification in communications, marketing, or project management (preferred)
- Experience in higher education or similarly complex organizations (preferred)
- Familiarity with tools such as AirTable, Box, Adobe Creative Cloud, and the Microsoft Suite (preferred)
