Communication Operator Lead
About the role
Captures the day-to-day workflow and provides work direction to Communications Operators. Coordinates department scheduling and training, ensuring performance standards and adherence to department policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates department scheduling and training, assuring performance standards and department policies and procedures are followed.
- Assigns, monitors, and reviews progress and accuracy of work, directing efforts and providing guidance on more complex issues.
- Assists with human resources responsibilities, including interviewing and selection of new employees, orientation, staff development, providing performance feedback, resolving employee concerns, and enhancing employee morale.
- Maintains current knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures, answering service accounts and switchboard information through review of bulletin board postings, department handouts, and attendance at staff meetings.
- Serves as a communication link between in-house and on-call personnel, patients, and caregivers.
- Communicates routine, urgent, and emergent information utilizing information binders, on-call schedules, staff listings, and department policies and procedures.
- Connects, and directs calls to appropriate locations.
- Provides and arranges for the repairs of pocket pagers, patient room telephones, and "special needs" patient telephones.
- Maintains the timely reception of monthly call schedules from physician offices and hospital departments.
Requirements
Typically requires 3 years of experience in communications that includes experiences in answering incoming calls for a multi-line switchboard. Must possess excellent verbal communication skills and independent decision-making ability.

Pay
Base compensation listed within the listed pay range based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training. Premium pay such as shift, on call, and more based on a teammate's job. Opportunity for annual increases based on performance.
Schedule
Scheduled Hours: Full time 80 hours every two weeks Mon - Fri 11am-7:30pm, with flexibility to start earlier or later if needed. Weekend on call rotation.
