About the role
We are seeking a confident, friendly, and well-spoken Project Advocate to support a small-business advocacy organization. This position is ideal for someone with strong communication, networking, marketing, or public relations experience who is passionate about advocacy and building community relationships.
Responsibilities
- Clearly communicate the organization’s mission, goals, strategies, and initiatives.
- Represent an advocacy project focused on supporting women-owned businesses.
- Connect with women’s organizations, media representatives, public-interest groups, and government contacts.
- Build and maintain positive professional relationships with partner organizations and community groups.
- Draft social media posts, articles, outreach materials, and press releases.
- Respond to requests for information from individuals and organizations.
- Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, or at least two years of relevant experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident and professional when conducting outreach by phone, email, and in person.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with media contacts, organizations, and public-interest groups.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Previous marketing or advocacy experience is preferred.
