About the Role

This position is based in Livonia, MI. The Commodity Manager (CM) II is a strategic and forward-thinking individual who serves as a subject matter expert, monitoring market trends, developing sourcing strategies, and communicating commodity agreements across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead current production cost reduction and new program sourcing globally for assigned commodities.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to optimize overall impact and build trust within the Commodity Team.
  • Process purchase orders and ensure suppliers meet delivery dates.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to leverage Roush’s global buy and optimize supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery, and launch).
  • Lead, manage, and execute data collection, validation, analysis, and negotiation activities for commodities.
  • Negotiate and manage global strategic supplier contracts and approve changes.
  • Manage overall relationships with strategic suppliers.
  • Communicate commodity agreements and strategies globally across the business.
  • Report progress periodically to senior-level managers within and outside the company.
  • Facilitate supplier assessment and performance review meetings, monitor strategy effectiveness, and adjust as needed.
  • Serve as a resource and expert for assigned commodities.
  • Participate in process improvements to develop and implement best practices.
  • Monitor supply markets, trends, and aggregate forecasts and global specifications.
  • Operate with professionalism and the highest personal integrity.
  • Approve all global sourcing decisions.
  • Develop cost models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related or technical field.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing responsible commodities.
  • Experience with cost modeling, cost drivers, and cost structures.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Experience managing complex commodities and increasing spend/growth across multiple commodities.
  • Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills and assessing suppliers.
  • Demonstrated competence in developing and implementing commodity strategies.
  • Understanding of industry quality standards.
  • Strong coordination, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge in indirect/MRO purchasing.
  • Manufacturing exposure or experience.
  • Experience in the automotive industry.
  • PeopleSoft experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
