About the role
We are currently looking to fill a Full-Time, permanent position for a Commodity Coordinator in our Commodity Department at our Laredo, TX facility.
Responsibilities
- Allocate all sales orders and workorders at the Distribution Centre a day in advance when possible.
- Manage inventory by making use of FIFO, LIFO and FEFO methods.
- Ensure proper rotation is being followed by shipping and repack departments, communicate issues in daily inventory meetings.
- Look at all product to determine quality grade before allocating it to sale orders and workorders.
- Responsible for ensuring all required workorders are entered by scheduler for main repacks and yourself for infrequent repacks.
- Strategize with Production Scheduler for production planning based on current overall quality and supply.
- Evaluate daily truck ETAs to ensure allocated product will meet these times.
- In the case of late trucks, communicate this to the CM/Shipping team during the Daily operations meetings.
- Look at all product on a daily basis when evaluating and planning allocations.
- With the assistance of the Commodity Manager, develop creative solutions when roadblocks present themselves.
- Provide the Commodity Manager with allowance requests when necessary.
- Provide Commodity Manager with daily push list on extra and problematic inventory.
- Cook up daily with Commodity Managers on growers packing schedules.
- Maintain a 3-day outlook, communicating all same-day and next-day issues at daily production meetings.
- Resolve after hours allocation and quality issues as required.
- Must comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety, Bio Security, and Nature Fresh Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications
- A positive attitude with an enthusiasm to work and learn.
- Previous experience in a produce warehouse setting considered an asset.
- Experience working with Excel and MS Dynamics Nav (or other ERP systems) considered an asset.
- Excellent communication is a must for this role (oral and written).
- Ability to maintain respectful relationships at all levels within and outside the organization.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment, some independent work.
- Ability to work in a fast environment by multitasking and prioritizing work while being attentive to details and quality.
- Ability to embrace and adapt to the rapid growth, innovation, and development of the company.
- Safety shoes are mandatory.
- A valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle are required.
- Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and extended hours if needed.
What to Expect
- A fast-paced warehouse environment where temperatures vary from cooler to temperature-controlled areas.
- Working with a wide array of people/cultures in a team setting, including guest workers, locals, and vendors, etc.
- Full-time hours and holidays (as needed).
- Balance between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the warehouse and coolers – some desk work.
- An occasional need for some heavy lifting (when needed).
- Bending, twisting, and reaching.
- Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
