About the role
This summer internship program is designed for participants to gain exposure to physical and financial commodity trading, with an emphasis on risk and technology, by working with one or two different trading desks in either Stamford or Houston (or both locations). At the end of the program, a desk may extend an offer of full-time employment or an invitation to join the two-year Commercial Rotational Analyst Program. Interns will interact regularly with business leaders to understand CCI’s approach to global markets, be paired with a commercial mentor for career insights, and present learnings through mid- and end-of-internship presentations.

Responsibilities
- Analyze markets to identify trading opportunities, assessing risks
- Design and develop models to analyze economic data, market fundamentals, and forecast prices
- Perform research and statistical studies of identified risk factors
- Identify market pricing trends and discontinuities
- Design and formulate trade ideas, executing with rigorous risk management control
- Run back-testing to verify strategies prior to production execution
- Review research reports and articles examining recent developments in energy markets
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, Statistics, Business, Economics, Energy, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field
- Expected graduation date in Spring 2028
- Prior internship or exposure to commodities markets, financial institutions, or consulting preferred
- Intermediate analytical and technical skills in one or more of: Python, C++, VBA, Excel, SQL, or other database exposure (candidates selected for interviews should be prepared to review Python and SQL)
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as a team player and add value to the team
