Commissioning Technician - aka Castle Defender

Job Summary

We are seeking skilled and reliable HVAC Commissioning Technicians to join our team of Knights to defend our customers’ castles! The ideal candidate will be responsible for balancing, commissioning, servicing, and repairing HVAC systems in residential settings. This role requires strong technical knowledge, customer service skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct HVAC system commissioning, including optimizing system airflow and refrigerant charge to maximize performance and efficiency utilizing MeasureQuick software (training & tools provided! ).
  • Understand HVAC duct systems and perform duct system air balancing to achieve room-level airflow targets for optimized comfort.
  • Complete detailed commissioning and air balance reports and maintain accurate records of post-work system performance.
  • Communicate clearly with customers about the work performed, document measured performance improvement, and bring attention to any outstanding issues not addressed by the services purchased. Offer additional services, if applicable.
  • Assist install crews with replacing, repairing, and servicing residential ductwork and associated components.
  • Install ventilation components, including bath fans, dryer vent boxes, attic fans, fresh air ducts, HEPA & carbon filtration, etc.
  • Test electrical circuits and components for continuity and proper functioning.
  • Operate duct cleaning equipment and perform thorough duct cleaning services.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including PPE usage and safe handling of refrigerants and chemicals.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and certifications.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in clean and functional condition.
  • Complete required documentation and job reports accurately and on time.
  • Deliver friendly, world-class service as customers expect from a Knight!

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or HVAC certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of HVAC service or start-up technician experience.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal) required.
  • A2L Certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and electrical systems.
  • Excellent mechanical, problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor as customers expect from a Knight!

Preferred (Extra armor!)

  • 2+ years of residential HVAC or Insulation installation experience preferred.
  • NATE certification.
  • Heat Pump Certification.
  • A2L Certification.
  • Familiarity with digital service management platforms or CRM software.

Work Conditions

  • May involve evenings or weekend appointments. No On-Call!
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and moderate noise levels.
  • Regular travel to customer locations.

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Climbing ladders.
  • Maneuvering tight attic spaces.
  • Working safely in extreme attic temperatures.
