Commissioning Technician

About the role

Commissioning Technicians play an impactful role within the organization, collaborating with customers, team members, and third-party partners to perform startup, diagnostic, repair, and troubleshooting of modular data centers. They are problem solvers, customer focused, and passionate about their work. This is a site-based position with occasional nonstandard hours. A 40-hour guarantee (+Overtime) applies, with most work occurring at partner sites.

Responsibilities

• Travel in your local region to start up, repair, troubleshoot, and commission modular data centers at partner sites
• Execute approved commissioning test plans
• Problem solve with commissioning technicians, electricians, manufacturing partners, technical support, and Field Service Representatives
• Complete commissioning reports and expense reports
• Engage in continuous learning and training on various products both in the field and in the classroom
• Travel throughout the US or Mexico to support other manufacturing partner or customer sites outside your local region, including overnight travel by vehicle/air
• Assist engineers in writing commissioning test plans
• Work with your Manager or engineers to resolve complex escalated issues

Requirements

• Associate degree, trade/vocational certification, military training, or similar experience in electrical-related disciplines
• Ability to read blueprints/schematics
• Intermediate understanding of principles of AC and DC power, various AC and DC supply circuit components
• 3-phase power understanding is a plus
• Basic understanding of electrical circuits and electronics
• Working knowledge of digital multi-meter
• Prior experience with switchgear and/or UPS systems, power distribution and switchgear, seamless automatic transfer switches (ATS), power distribution units, electrical, electro-mechanical or electronics related equipment is a plus
• Prior industry experience is a plus
• English proficiency required to communicate with customers and team members
• Proficient in basic computer skills and systems including Microsoft Office: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel; and the ability to navigate and utilize company digital tools and resources
• Must possess good safety practices and adhere to the company’s safety procedures/policies (lock out tag out, comply with all safety programs and complete safety-related training on time)
• Identify hazards present in the work area and report all safety matters, incidents, near misses, to management or safety representative
• NFPA-70E or OSHA experience is preferred
• Safe driving and vehicle operations skills
• Experience utilizing test and diagnostic equipment is a plus
• Experience reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and operation manuals

Physical demands

• Work frequently requires strenuous physical tasks, including bending, stooping, and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds
• Work outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, and dust
• Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time, including working in small, confined spaces

Pay

The expected pay range for this U.S.-based position is USD 68,000 – USD 102,000 per year. This range includes base pay and short-term incentives. Individual pay is determined by performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
