About the role

CEQEL Critical Commissioning (CCCx) combines decades of experience with cutting-edge technology to deliver reliable, efficient, and compliant commissioning services for complex facilities across various industries. As a Commissioning Senior Associate, you will execute tests, troubleshoot equipment, and support commissioning plans with an increased level of independent work and technical problem-solving. This role builds upon the foundation developed in our Commissioning Associate/Field Technician positions and may serve as lead on routine projects of limited scope.

This is a remote position; you may work from anywhere in the United States but must be located near a major airport. Up to 75% domestic travel is required, and relocation may be considered for long-term project needs. You must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to rent vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site inspection, validation, testing, and verification of electrical and mechanical equipment (50%):
    • Participate in factory witness testing
    • Observe startup activities
    • Use technical equipment to perform testing
    • Perform functional testing of equipment and electrical, mechanical, and controls systems
    • Troubleshoot system components
  • Develop testing plans and procedures (20%):
    • Assist in the development of commissioning plans
    • Prepare pre-functional checklists
    • Prepare functional performance test scripts
  • Review construction-related design documents, drawings, and specifications (15%):
    • Review shop drawings and submittals
    • Review sequence of operations
    • Assist in commissioning-focused design reviews
  • Reporting (15%):
    • Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
    • Assist in preparation and contribute to the final commissioning report
    • Manage personal hours using company tools
  • Complete assigned tasks and deliverables on time and on budget
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Intermediate-level knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and controls system principles
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and strong organizational skills for file management
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows and optimize operational processes
  • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment through effective communication, self-motivation, and resourcefulness in a distraction-free workspace
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
  • Strong analytical skills for preparing documents, reports, and correspondence
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including technical and non-technical information
  • Ability to serve as primary point of client contact when needed
  • Ability to work successfully as a team member and independently with moderate supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
  • Ability to achieve certification for NFPA 70E and/or OSHA training as required
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Occasionally position self under or over equipment
  • Occasionally move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

Travel

  • Up to 75% domestic travel, including travel to any or all 50 U.S. states
  • Must be located near a major airport
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to rent vehicles
  • Effective May 7, 2025, a valid REAL ID (or acceptable alternative, such as a passport) will be required for domestic air travel
  • Travel may involve transportation by car or plane depending on the destination
  • Potential relocation opportunities may exist per project needs

Certifications

  • Must be able to obtain NFPA 70E / OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certifications as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or related discipline, OR
  • Two years’ experience with installation, hands-on testing, validation, and troubleshooting of mechanical, controls, and/or electrical infrastructure, PLUS
  • Minimum three years’ additional experience with installation, hands-on testing, validation, and troubleshooting of mechanical, controls, and/or electrical infrastructure

Pay

The pay range for this role is $87,000 – $115,000 USD per year.
