What The Role Entails

  • Oversee the design, installation and testing of all components, materials, equipment, and systems involved in data center projects.
  • Oversee the commissioning of mission-critical systems including humidifiers, sprinkler systems, chillers, cooling towers, water pumps, exhaust fans, rooftop air handling units, computer room air handlers, and CDU’s.
  • Conduct reviews of design packages, monitor and analyze equipment tests.
  • Ensure that testing has been executed and the data centers operate at maximum operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Maintain data center project tasks, tracking budget, schedule, and scope of work.
  • Liaise between the client and internal team to document the basis of design, serve as the main point of contact with the client during commissioning activities and project completion.
  • Review and implement the commissioning plan encompassing construction as required for building phasing.
  • Develop, review, and implement the commissioning schedule, the commissioning process activities, and integrate them into the master project schedule as prepared and maintained by the Owner's Representative.
  • Complete a thorough review of the design documents at the end of the Construction Documents Phase.
  • Aid in the development of full commissioning specifications for all commissioned equipment.
  • Inspect installation in the field and witness functional testing on site; perform site visits, as necessary, to observe component and document component system installations.
  • Coordinate with primary IT liaison for control systems issues and document component system installations.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the commissioning test procedures to verify the performance and functionality of Mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform readiness reviews of assigned projects to inform overall building acceptance.
  • Validate and attend training of the operation team personnel.
  • Absorb and attend training of the operation team personnel.

What You Bring To The Role

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in electrical commissioning, preferably in data center or critical facilities projects.
  • A general understanding of data center systems and electrical building systems.
  • A familiarity with industry standards and codes, such as NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ASHRAE.
  • A strong business acumen.
  • A meticulous attention to detail and ability to exercise critical judgement.
  • Demonstrated professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in core Microsoft office suite applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Proficiency in commissioning software and tools is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • An exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to multi-task while managing changing priorities for multiple projects.
  • An assertive personality style needed to ensure that processes are completed and moving on to the next stage of completion.
  • A strong work ethic and self-motivation.
  • The ability to maintain excellent relationships with contractors, clients, and other departments within the company.
  • The ability and willingness to move about the work area and travel to worksites as needed or required.
  • The ability and willingness to respond to emails and phone calls after hours in the event of an emergency.
