About the role

The AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

Requirements

  • Experienced in Critical Infrastructure Commissioning
  • Fast-paced environment to work in
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80% of the year
  • Physical requirements: Walk job sites in uneven terrain, work at heights and from ladders, regularly walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, lift and/or move up to 49 pounds, carry objects weighing up to 49 pounds for short distances, participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more, carry out physical tasks throughout the day without becoming overly tired, manipulate small wires and objects easily, work in a noisy environment, work in environments that are colder or hotter than a normal office environment

Key job responsibilities

  • Provides testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
  • Reviews design documents, leads Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and manages third-party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing
  • Takes Ownership of their projects' successes by diving deep to resolve technical issues and having Bias for Action to address ever-changing schedule and coordination demands onsite
  • Communicates lessons learned and collaborates on program improvements
  • Manages the project commissioning vendor whose primary scope is to identify issues, determine criticality, propose solutions, and document their findings
  • Escalates to the appropriate stakeholders if project turnover is at risk
  • Communicates lessons learned to help peers on similar projects in flight and participates in initiatives that drive improvement to the commissioning program

Additional Job Requirements

  • Requires personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office; reimbursed

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components based on design intent and approved equipment submittals
  • Knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems design
  • Knowledge of continuously operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, air flow containment systems, and building management systems
  • 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of both mechanical and electrical equipment or design related to data center electrical and mechanical topology
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
