Commercial Truck Driver - Construction is responsible to operate a straight truck or tractor-trailer equipment and maintain it properly to transport material to designated location in a timely manner. DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job) Safely operate Class A truck to transport asphalt or aggregate to job site often times driving on uneven or unfinished surfaceInspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck conditionMaintains driver logDaily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning truck inside and out, greasing, oiling, brakes, lights and any other maintenance instructed to performRecognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environmentAssist with plant maintenance, repairs, set up and take downsTarp load when neededVerify that gates are closedComplete load ticketsAssist construction crews while waiting to unloadSpread productMaintain proper information in truck cab pouchReport information accurately and completely on daily time cards, truck cab information and other needed paperworkMaintain and support a safe and harassment free work environmentEnsure OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance and attend required trainingPerforms other duties as assignedAbility to communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written)Ability to read maps and navigate to new locationsMust be self-motivated, team-player with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous and respectful toward othersAbility to work with minimum supervision and recognize matters needing attention and initiate action on that recognition MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements) General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalentA CDL Class A (tractor-trailer) or CDL Class B (straight truck) license. Preference given for experience driving a belly dump, lowboy, lowboy, tanker or straight truckMust have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements Compensation $29.95 - $34.60/Hour plus fringe benefits (contributions to health and wellness, pension, etc) Benefits Benefits are through the Local Teamsters Union.
