Commercial Team Lead

About the role
As a Commercial Lines Account Manager, Team Leader, you'll play a critical role in protecting and supporting businesses through thoughtful insurance solutions and exceptional client service. This position combines hands-on account management with team leadership responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to guide client strategies, mentor team members, and strengthen long-term client relationships. You'll partner closely with Producers, carrier partners, and internal service teams to support a portfolio of middle market and large commercial accounts. Your expertise will help ensure clients receive responsive service, comprehensive coverage recommendations, and proactive risk management support while contributing to retention and growth objectives.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, Producers, carrier partners, and internal team members to deliver an exceptional client experience.
- Lead the servicing of commercial accounts by responding to client needs, addressing coverage concerns, and providing consultative guidance on risk exposures.
- Support renewal and remarketing strategies by analyzing exposures, coordinating submissions, evaluating carrier options, and recommending appropriate coverage solutions.
- Manage policy servicing activities including new business, endorsements, cancellations, certificates, binders, registry transactions, and policy documentation.
- Identify coverage gaps and risk management opportunities that help clients protect their organizations and support long-term retention.
- Mentor and support team members while contributing to operational efficiency, service excellence, and overall account management performance.
Requirements
- Active Property & Casualty Insurance License.
- Minimum of 7 years of Commercial Lines insurance experience.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, mentoring, or team development experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, including property, casualty, workers' compensation, umbrella, professional liability, and related lines.
- Experience supporting middle market and large commercial accounts.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and the ability to identify coverage gaps and recommend solutions.
- Experience using agency management systems, carrier portals, and commercial insurance technology platforms.
- Exceptional communication, client service, relationship-building, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Professional designations such as CIC, CPCU, ARM, CRM, or similar certifications (valuable addition).
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field (valuable addition).
- Advanced experience with complex account marketing, renewal strategy development, and coverage analysis (valuable addition).
- Experience leading process improvement initiatives or supporting team performance and development programs (valuable addition).

Pay
Pay range: $80,000–$100,000 USD. Any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with applicable state pay transparency laws, considering relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. Roles may also be eligible for supplemental compensation, such as performance-based bonus, commission, or equity.
